You buy a machine once every few years and then work with it every day. It is the one purchase in a studio where it is worth spending more time on the decision than on placing the order.
Needle stroke — the parameter that changes everything
The needle stroke determines how far the needle extends from the cartridge, and translates directly into which techniques you can work with. A shorter stroke, around 2,5 mm, suits powder work, delicate areas and thin skin — the needle enters more shallowly and more softly. A longer one, around 2,9 mm, gives more power with hairstroke techniques and on thicker, less receptive skin. This is not a question of better or worse, but of matching the machine to what you actually do in your studio.
Speed and stability
A range of 50–150 revolutions per minute covers most techniques used in PMU. More important than the maximum figure is whether the device holds a steady speed under load — a jolt when skin resistance changes shows up later as uneven fill.
Weight and balance of the machine
In a treatment lasting two hours, what counts is not the weight itself so much as where that weight sits. A machine that is too front-heavy forces the wrist to tense, and a tired wrist is the first thing you can see in the line.
Cartridge compatibility
Before you buy a machine, check which cartridges are available for it and how much they cost. You buy the equipment once, but you buy needles every month — and it is the needles, not the machine, that determine the real cost of working over a year.
Frequently asked questions
Which needle stroke to start with?
For powder work and delicate areas, a stroke of around 2.5 mm works well. If you work mainly with the hairstroke technique or on thicker skin, reach for the version with a longer stroke. Many PMU artists end up working with two machines.
Do cartridges from other brands fit the OVA machine?
OVA machines take needles with a Cheyenne-type fitting, which is the most widespread standard on the market. It is worth verifying the specific model before you buy.
How to look after the machine so it lasts for years
Disinfect the housing after every treatment, work with a disposable sleeve, avoid flooding the mechanism with pigment and store the device somewhere dry. Failures in this equipment usually come not from wear but from liquid getting inside.
Is a PMU machine also suitable for tattooing?
It depends on the model and the needle stroke. Equipment designed for micropigmentation runs at lower power than tattoo machines — check the specification of the particular model.
Can the machine be bought in instalments or on lease?
Write to us — we will go through the financing options available.

Usuwanie PMU (2)
Pigmenty (5)
Pigment is the only element of the treatment whose result you will not see for a month — and which you will then live with for the next two years. That is why you choose it differently from the rest of your equipment.Mineral or organicThis is not a division into better and worse, but into different behaviour in the skin. Mineral pigments have larger particles and metabolise more slowly and more predictably — they usually lighten evenly,… -
Aftercare (4)
What happens during the fourteen days after the treatment decides how the result looks for the next two years.
