The pre-draw is half the result
Before you start working with pigment there is the pre-draw — and it is the drawing, not the needling technique, that most often decides whether your client leaves happy. A pencil with a fine, hard tip lets you lead the line precisely and does not smudge when you correct it. A pen with a 0.5 mm ball tip works where you need a contour as sharp as a single hair.
Practice skins — not just for trainees
Practice latex is useful at every stage: for learning, but also for testing a new pigment or a new needle configuration before you try it on a client. It is the cheapest way to avoid learning on someone else's face.

The consultation form, client information sheet, treatment consent, GDPR clause and treatment record are not bureaucracy — they are the only material that stands on your side in a complaint or an inspection. It is worth preparing them once, properly, instead of scribbling them out just before an appointment.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a pre-draw pencil and a pre-draw pen?
The pencil gives a soft line that is easy to correct and works well for mapping the shape. The pen gives a thinner, sharper line — you use it where you need maximum precision in the contour.
Does practice skin behave like real skin?
Not entirely — latex does not bleed and takes pigment differently. It is excellent for practising hand control, shape and evenness, but it will not replace working on a model under a trainer's eye.
Which documents do I need signed before a treatment?
The minimum is a health questionnaire, informed consent to the treatment and a GDPR information clause. On top of that, a treatment record noting which pigment and which batch you worked with.
