OVA® MOONLIGHT is a passive nanosecond Q-SWITCH fitted with a modern, remarkably precise system that controls the emitted beam both as it leaves the crystal and after it passes through the optics. This guarantees that the beam the laser emits carries even energy and breaks down the pigment with the same force across the whole surface of the tattoo, giving an even and accurate result.

With the OVA® MOONLIGHT laser, laser tattoo removal is safe and effective thanks to the ultra-short nanosecond pulse. The laser eliminates the risk of infection and minimises the possibility of scarring compared with other methods. The Q-SWITCH laser has tips emitting light at different wavelengths:

• 1064 nm for removing dark tattoos (black, grey, navy)

• 532 nm for removing red tattoos

OVA® MOONLIGHT can remove professional, amateur and traumatic tattoos.

Black tattoos and most coloured ones can be removed safely. Drawing on our experience, we will also show you how easily you can get rid of blown-out pigment and how to remove an unwanted tattoo.

Removing a tattoo completely requires several sessions at intervals of 4–6 weeks. The number of sessions needed depends on a great many factors:

What a Q-Switch laser is

Q-Switch is a laser that emits a very short, high power pulse. In Moonlight the pulse lasts 4 nanoseconds. That shortness is the key: the energy hits the pigment particle and breaks it up before it can spread as heat into the surrounding tissue.

The broken up pigment is then removed by the lymphatic system, that is by the body rather than through the epidermis. This is why the risk of scarring is lower than with methods that break the skin.

Two wavelengths

1064 nm for dark work: black, grey and navy.

532 nm for red work.

This pair covers most of what clients come in with: old permanent makeup, migrated pigment, professional, amateur and traumatic tattoos.

An even beam

The system controlling the beam checks it twice: after it leaves the crystal and after it passes through the optics. In practice that means the energy is even across the whole spot, so the pigment is broken up with the same force at every point. Without that the result can be uneven and one part of the work fades faster than another.

Not only removal

This is usually the argument that decides the return on investment. Besides removing PMU and tattoos, the machine also lets you perform:

Black Doll carbon peel. Skin covered with carbon paste is treated with the laser, the carbon particles absorb the energy and evaporate together with impurities. What a course of treatments looks like

Removal is always a series, not a single appointment. Intervals are usually four to six weeks, because the body needs time to clear the broken up pigment.

The number of sessions depends on the colour and the number of colours, on the size, depth and type of pigment and on the individual response of the immune system. So instead of promising your client a specific number, it is better to agree on a patch test and assess after the first healing.

Training and onboarding

Training is included in the purchase price. It covers choosing parameters, running the treatment and how to work with migrated pigment, which in PMU is a subject of its own.

Frequently asked questions

Will the laser remove every colour?

Dark colours come out best. Light, warm and flesh toned ones are harder, because they absorb light less well. In those cases artists more often reach for removers or combine both methods.

When does the investment pay off?

By our calculations, on average after about fifty treatments, and the carbon peel and work on discolouration shorten that time, because those services are performed more often than removal.

Do I need experience with lasers?

No, the training starts from the basics. It is worth having experience in working with clients and in guiding healing, because that is the part which decides the result.
